The Code Zone is looking for an enthusiastic, gaming, tech-loving individual to take on the Club Mentor role in our afterschool coding and tech clubs in the Cambridge/ Essex/ West Suffolk region!
Who we are
The Code Zone runs coding clubs for kids aged 6–16 across Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and West Suffolk. Think less "boring IT lesson", more "after-school gaming club where you accidentally learn to code." We're award-winning, we're growing, and we're on the hunt for two fantastic mentors to join our IRL team.
The Role
We're hiring a local club mentor to join our Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and West Suffolk team! You'll be running hands-on coding sessions, helping kids aged 6–16 build games using Scratch and Python. Sessions involve setting up kit, welcoming kids, walking the room making sure every child gets help, troubleshooting projects, and generally bringing a positive and fun energy to the room!
Locations & Hours
Sessions run across Ely, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and Saffron Walden — you'll need your own vehicle and a full UK driving licence and able to attend all locations. Weekday afternoons and evenings during term time (22.5 hours per week, roughly 3:30–8:00pm on session days). During the school holidays, we switch from coding clubs to gaming sessions.
Pay
£15/hr for all time worked including setup and pack-down. Travel expenses on top if you take on the equipment transport role.
What We Need
- Some coding knowledge is ideal and/or experience working with children (but not mandatory)
- Based in or commutable to the Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and West Suffolk area
- Reliable, energetic, and naturally great with kids
- Willing to undergo a DBS check (arranged and paid for by us)
- - You must have a Full UK driving licence and own vehicle, this is not negotiable as you will be transporting boxes.
